There is nothing wrong with being a teacher's pet.....especially when they sit on the bookshelf and look pretty, like our new class pets! We received two new pets at school last week. If you look closely, you should spy a blue Betta fish, along with an African dwarf frog. Meet Darth Betta, and Hopper! We will be sure to take great care of them by taking turns feeding them each day!
And, we wanted to make sure that every child had a pet in their home during pet week, so we made these cute puppy puppets for everyone! Each one unique, just like real pets!
These dogs are missing their spots! These cute printables from prekinders.com were the perfect math center for pet week. We used our dot droppers to add the spots to each dog, and we knew just the right amount of spots to add by looking at the number in the blue box above each dog.
This game of Walk the dogs was perfect for pattern matching and counting practice. The first person to collect 5 of the same dog wins.....but watch out for the dog catcher!
Having pets is a huge responsibility! We know that they need lots of proper care, including feeding and cleaning up after them. At this math center, we rolled a die to see just how much to feed our rabbit and dog pets. And, it was great fine motor practice too when we used our tweezers to feed them their food.
Doggy, doggy, where's your bone? We will help you find them! This dramatic play center was filled with lots of sand for digging, and lots of bones for finding.
And, after they finished digging up the bones, they could come count and add them at this pop-a-number math center.
We practiced our patterns and colors with our colored goldfish. Pattern fish found at prekinders.com. Fishbowls found at www.celebrateeverydaywithme.com.
And our uppercase to lowercase letter matching by putting these fish into their matching bowl.
The kids are getting the hang of simple addition! This add-a-frog center gave us some great practice for addition facts with numbers 1-10.
Pets have to go to the doctor, just like us. We learned that a veterinarian is a pet doctor, and we practiced our skills of fixing "boo boos" with our vet kits!

And, our reading center with many different pet books! McKenzie enjoyed reading with the kids, but there were some that they could do on their own as well. Some search and find books, along with some spot the letters.
