That's right, we are in tip top shape here! In fact, we were over our heads in shapes this week! We put all these shapes to good use though! Check out our shapes Brown Bear Books! Aren't the shape animals the cutest!?
We also practiced making some shapes with our cotton swabs.
These animal shape puzzles gave us just the right amount of counting practice. Each puzzle had a certain amount of buttons missing from them (from 1 to 10) and after we added the missing button shapes, we counted them and then added that numbered puzzle piece to our puzzle.
We loved making elastic band shapes on our geoboards. We had the choice to make our own shapes, or follow the shape designs on our geoboard picture puzzles.
For another math center, we practiced our counting skills, while matching up our pegs to their correct shaped pegboard! This included circles, triangles, and squares.
We talked about quite a few shapes this week! We practiced them with our shapes bean bag toss game. Each bean bag was thrown into its corresponding floor shape. We talked about circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, hearts, stars, hexagons, diamonds, pentagons, and octagons!
We learned about the letters E and F this week. We practiced our uppercase and lowercase letter recognition with our letter tic-tac-toe. Check out Boston's smile when he got three in a row!
We filled our shape jars to their tip top with shapes too!
We also used our fine motor skills to trace our shapes with these wiki stix! These are great for tracing because they have a wax cover over the string, so if you push down on them, they stick to the surface you are working on! This is great to do with letters too!
We were creative in making things out of our shape magnets. Jackson has a truck that he built below! He used squares, rectangles, circle wheels, triangles and more!
For our writing center, we used our erasable shape writing cards. Each card instructed your child to trace, create, or practice making shapes, lines, and squiggles.
We also worked on making some lines and shapes with our snap, button, and zipper velcro strips and boards. Great zipper practice for our jacket season coming up!
And, this cute girl had a birthday!
Happy Birthday Peyton!
