Primary colors

We talked about the letters A and B this week. This was a fun way to practice our cutting and pasting skills. We practiced making the letter A sound by saying "Ahhh" and the kids would have the alien jump out at their friends. 

We worked on our fine motor skills, along with the uppercase and lowercase letter A formation with our letter A snakes. We practiced first rolling balls, and then making them into snakes and forming the letter.

We used our rainbow chips and magnetic wands to make our letter B this week. The kids first covered their upper and lowercase B's with the magnetic chips, and then they magically swipe them clean with the magnetic wands. They loved it and wanted to do it over and over again.

We talked about our primary colors this week. Here we are with our crayola puzzles in just those three colors: red, yellow, and blue!

We practiced making patterns with our primary colors and our pattern bears.

We also made more patterns with our rainbow ice cream cones. The kids had pattern strips with different colored patterns, and the kids built their cones up according to those patterns. They couldn't wait to count how many they had stacked up!

We played connect 4 this week. The kids didn't actually play according to game rules, but what a better primary color recognition game, right?! And, they practiced their counting skills as well as they piled the chips to the brink!

Primary color spin art! This activity involved lots of teamwork effort as one person spun the wheel and the others made their patterns.

Can you count from 1 to 10? We worked on that this week with our number stacking towers. We had two towers, so we made it a race to see who could stack their tower from 1 to 10 the quickest.

And, we got our little fingers working this week with our snap, zip, and button vests.

1st day of school!

The anticipation is over! It finally arrived! The first day of school happened! And, all of your kids did wonderful!! We had a great first day doing a lot of preschool must-have activities including playdough, blocks, puzzles, and snack time.

We did a name recognition activity where the kids used their fine motor skills to trace their name in stickers. Who doesn't love stickers?!

We worked on names some more with our playdough letters.

We talked about teamwork this week and how when we all work together, anything is possible. We put this to practice with our team walkers.

And, the kids showed me what great team players that they are while helping each other build our alphabet, color, and number puzzles!

And, what would preschool be without an occasional block center?! These blocks could be built up into different jungle animals.

Open House is around the corner!

The preschool open house will be held on August 22nd from 5:30-7:30 PM. Please stop by anytime for a meet and greet and activity for the kids. If I don't have your paperwork, make sure you bring it with you! The first day of school will be held on September 5th or 6th. I hope that your children are as excited as I am!

"Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?"

I got some un'bear'ably cute pictures of your kids with their bears for our bear theme. We had a lot of fun with them doing a bear hunt, and they even got a ride on the parachute. We had the bears take turns according to their color and size.

We practiced our months of the year with these themed bears. I had the month word strips hung on the wall in order, and the kids used them to put the bears in order.

For a math center we had our cookie bear counters. Each bear had a different number of hearts on its tummy, and we put them in order, counted by two, and went backwards from 1-10.

We got our hands moving and our zippers grooving with our bear zip and buckle puzzles. The kids loved this fine motor activity, they thought it was especially funny that the bear had his underpants on under his clothes!

We talked about different types of bears like the polar bear, the brown bear, black bears, and panda bears. Below you can check out the kids making their textured brown bears with chocolate chips!

We spring in the air, and a lot of cotton!, we reviewed the four seasons and made our 4-seasons puzzles.

Star of the week:

Our star this week is Mario Bros. number one fan, the guy with the best, most contagious laugh around! He's the aspiring rockstar.......the joyous James!

Your little sprouts!

We hear the saying a lot, "He is growing like a weed." These little sprouts you guys are growing are nothing like weeds! They are blooming into quite the best bunch around! I have enjoyed watching them blossom so much! Check them out this week. They grew some things of our own too. I hope their little greenhouses sprouted their lima bean seeds for them to watch at home.

Here Mark is checking out the mystery bag. We had nature items hidden inside and they had to look at a card with a picture on it, and try to pull that item out of the bag without peeking.

We also checked out some plants from seed, to plant, to vegetable. We had a peanut, a watermelon seed, a peach pit, and more!

We practiced writing our names with these jello worms! Slimy and slippery just like the real thing. I still convinced a few to try them though!

Yum......I think?!

We also had fun making your Mother's Day gifts. We hope you liked them as much as we did!

Sorry, I haven't been as good about taking pictures and posting lately. So much to do, so little time! We also did some pussy willow paintings, gummy worms math, and a flower shop center. In the flower shop center, we had our cash registers, flowers and seeds with price tags on them, and real money to pay for our things. They are doing great with their addition skills!
